Smart Cookie

We were in the car today and a random Hawaiian song came on my ipod. It started off with a ukulele and I told the kids what they were hearing. "Do you hear that? It's called a ukulele, it's like a little guitar." Mason says, "does it go like this mommy?" Being that I was driving at the time, I could only assume that he was making a guitar motion with his hands since pretending to play the guitar is a pretty common thing around our house. I flipped the rear view mirror down and saw him. He had one hand in a fist under his chin and the other hand had one little finger sticking out, going back and forth over his fist. He was pretending to play the violin. WHAT?! We've never really talked about the violin and I can't imagine that he's seen one too many times. But, he remembered that somewhere along the way he saw something that looked like a little guitar with a long stick moving back and forth across it.

Humor!

Owen was driving a little toy fire truck on Daddy's leg this morning. Here is the conversation that they had:

Owen: Here comes a fire truck. *continues to drive across daddy's lap*

Owen: Ccsshhh. *fire truck stops driving* Oh no! The fire truck had diarrhea!

Daddy: Diarrhea??

Owen: *laughs at himself because he realized what he'd said*

Owen: Not diarrhea. A flat tire. *continues laughing at himself*

Aaron and I couldn't stop laughing either!

Seeds!

Despite my green thumb, I decided that Owen and Mason would enjoy growing a flower from some seeds. Well, mainly I wanted an excuse to scoop some dirt because they got some cool new "scoopers" for Easter. We went to the "flower store" and they each picked out a flower pot and a packet of seeds. I can't say I'm a big fan of waiting on little ol' seeds to germinate, but it's a good science lesson for O and M. Turns out, Owen and Mason aren't too big of fans of waiting either. They expected the seeds to turn into flowers before their eyes. So much so that they went and picked a blooming weed in our yard and stuck it in the pot of dirt. "Look! A flower!" The did enjoy the planting process and were very excited the next day to water again. I have NO idea if this is going to work out. No idea if the soil is "evenly moist." NO idea if the seeds they picked are easy to grow. If not, I'm going back to bean sprouts in a ziplock for my science lesson!

P.S. I wish I could say that the boys picked out their outfits...but it was me. The shirts were supposed to be nap shirts when their original ones got messy during lunch. They got up from nap, were anxious to go get their seeds, and hey, they were already dressed (if you can call it that)!

Easter 2010

We had lots of fun with Granna, Granddaddy, Numna, and Bee in town this weekend to celebrate Easter. We even got to see Owen and Mason's great aunt and uncle, and cousin.

Here are a few pictures from an Easter party at church last weekend. This was just a warm up for the real deal!
Pre-Easter fun!
